HELP HAITI!
THREE WAYS TO HELP: the Penn/Wharton Club of the Dominican Republic's efforts through the Save the Children Foundation; the Clinton-Bush initiative and other national efforts; and a Penn Westchester alumnus' efforts...
On January 12, 2010, a massive earthquake struck the nation of Haiti, causing catastrophic damage inside and around the capital city of Port-au-Prince. President Obama has promised the people of Haiti that "you will not be forsaken; you will not be forgotten." The United States Government has mobilized resources and manpower to aid in the relief effort. Here are some ways that you can get involved:
1. The Dominican Republic Penn and Wharton Alumni Club began by focusing on delivering safe drinking water to Haiti, but faced logistical challenges in delivering the much needed water. They have now joined forces with the Save the Children Foundation who already have a massive warehouse set up in the Dominican Republic, as well as an efficient transportation system to deliver vital supplies to their Haitian team. Monetary contributions are still the fastest and most practical way to help. The DR Penn-Wharton Alumni Club Board will continue to review their plans to ensure optimal execution and results. 2. To participate on the national level, donate online at: http://clintonbushhaitifund.org/ or text “QUAKE” to 20222 to charge a $10 donation to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund (the donation will be added to your cell phone bill).

3. A local Penn alumnus has made a wonderful offer to help assist in the Haitian relief efforts. Seth Kaller, C'88, is in the historic document business, and has a number of original documents signed by Frederick Douglass- the great African American abolitionist, and also Minister to Haiti from 1889-1891. He has decided to sell at least ten of the documents with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund. Some information is currently on the front page of his website, www.sethkaller.net and he will continuing to add more details to the site in the coming days.
We hope you join us in supporting the Haitian relief efforts!
