The Palestra: Cathedral of Basketball

Past Board Members were honored at this event.

Those who joined us as we learned the history of The Palestra (the oldest basketball arena still in use in the country, opened in 1927), Big Five basketball over the years and what has happened in college basketball and with the gymnasium more recently enjoyed a wonderful Sunday afternoon.   Mikaelyn Austin, C'04, the writer, director and producer of the documentary also held a question and answer session after the the film.

Three immediate past board members (of twelve) were at the screening, including: Bob Sandler, W'52, Edy Levitt, W'59 and Joyce Blum Goodman, CW'59.  Gail Spiegel Cohen, C'76, D'80, VP of Programming, spoke about the past board and then presented the three attendees with the Palestra DVD (the DVD was subsequently mailed to the other board members who were unable to attend).
