Scholarship Donations....

Westchester Scholarship Fund:  The Penn Club of Westchester & Rockland Counties generally accepts donations from September 1 through May 1 of each year for an annual scholarship fund for a deserving student from Westchester (selected by the Penn administration).  The scholarship will reduce the self-help portion of the student's financial aid package.

Highlights of a few of our past recipients:

In May 2009, Penn selected Joshua Bennett of Yonkers as our Club's scholarship recipient.  Joshua is studying Africana Studies and English and willl graduate in May 2010.  His academic success has earned him many awards including University Scholar, Truman Scholarship Finalist, John Edgar Wideman Prize Winner, Mellon Mays undergraduate fellow, Penn Humanities Form Mellon undergraduate research fellow, and featured performer at the NAACP Image Awards.  He was also featured in the HBO Documentary: Brave New Voices and is a 2007 and 2009 College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational Champion.  After graduating in May 2010, Joshua plans to enter a doctoral program in either English or performance studies.

In May 2008, Penn selected Christopher Schiavetta of Mohegan Lake as our Club's scholarship recipient.   Chris will graduate from the Wharton School in May 2010.  Christopher has been on the Dean's List for multiple years, he is a Trustee Scholar, a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and received the David K. Hildebrand Prize in Statistics.  He is also a member of the Wharton Communications Advisory Board and the Residential Advising Board.  Additionally, he is vice president of fundraising and house manager for Rebuilding Together, a Penn community service organization that repairs housing in West Philadelphia. Chris also participates in Men's Ice Hockey.

To make a donation to this Scholarship, please make checks payable to the "Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania", so that they will be tax deductible (reference the Westchester Scholarship Fund on the memo line of the check), and mail to:
