Quenby Jackson Mott, Speaker bio

Quenby first came to Penn in 1996 as an Associate Dean.    In this role, she recruited and evaluated thousands of applicants from all over the Midwest and Southwest along with Westchester and Rockland Counties and also throughout Manhattan and the Bronx. In 2005, Quenby moved with her family to New Orleans where she worked for College Coach, a subsidiary of Bright Horizons Family Solutions.

In 2008, Quenby was welcomed back to Penn in the role of Vice Dean / Director of Admissions.  Today, as Penn’s Director of Admissions, she oversees a large staff and strives to improve the admissions process for all involved. Last year, she illustrated her commitment to Penn’s sustainability efforts by overseeing a transition to a paperless admissions system making the Class of 2013 the first class where applications were read, evaluated, and responded to online.
Quenby is a graduate of Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA, where she earned a BA in Business Management with a concentration in Human Resources.

Ryan Oakes, C’00, Performer bio

Ryan Oakes, C'00, Illusionist/Entertainer, will thrill us with his presentation as well!  Ryan is one of the most accomplished young magicians performing in the United States today, having performed throughout the country and abroad. He has made appearances at famous venues including Hollywood's Magic Castle, the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, and the White House.  At Penn, he majored in Psychology with minors in Fine Arts and Communications.  This formal education helped mold his approach to magic, which continually evolves through his continuous performing experience. In addition to magic, Ryan soon found himself searching for new applications for conjuring. Consequently, he explored the marketing potential of his magic and showmanship, but also consulted, helping others to use magical theory within theatrical and business applications. With over 17 years of performance experience, Ryan combines his own unique, mysterious illusion, a dynamic style, a strong liberal arts education and an offbeat sense of humor... making him unique in the entertainment world!
